The Great Australian Novel Package

Have you written the great Australian novel, and would like to see it in print? MHPS have a great new package that is just for you. Simply choose one of our text designs below and supply the text and/or an image for the cover, and we’ll do the rest.

By coming up with design templates and using a consistent book size, we’ve been able to take hundreds of dollars off our usual rates. With the Great Australian Novel Package, your book will be laid out using a professionally designed template, we will use text or an image supplied by you for the cover, and your book will be printed by Australia’s best book printer. So if you’ve spent months, or even years, finishing your novel, why not allow people to read it! This is all you have to do:

• Choose from one of the six professionally designed layouts below.
• Provide us with either a cover brief or rough cover design.
• Send us the files for your book, telling us how many copies you want and which design you have chosen.

That’s it! We’ll lay out your cover using the information you provide and your text using the design you have selected, and then email you PDF proofs to check. Minor corrections can be made at this stage. Once you’ve sent us any changes, we’ll send you final proofs to check and approve before printing. And before you know it, you’ll have printed copies of your book in your hand. Easy!

Your book cover
There are two different ways we can do your cover. You can do a rough design yourself in Microsoft Word or another software package and send that to us as a Word file, PDF or JPG. We'll copy this in our professional page layout software. Or, you can simply describe your cover to us, telling us what fonts and colours you would like. (The more detail you can give us the better.) If you choose this option, please include this cover description in a Word file with your submission, and we'll do three different design ideas for you to choose from. You can also include an image on your cover if you wish. (Don't forget to send us the image file with your submission.)

If you have written a blurb for the back cover and have a barcode or author photo, please also supply these with your submission.


Your proofs and corrections
You'll receive a PDF proof of your layout and cover within seven to ten working days of submitting your files.

The package includes us making three hours of corrections to these proofs. If your changes require more work than this, we will let you know the extra cost before proceeding. To give you an idea, minor corrections such as commas, full stops and spelling will most likely not result in extra costs, but significant changes such as deleting or rewriting text probably will.


Cost
To see how much your books will cost, simply select your number of copies and page length in the table below. This will be the total cost for your book, including printing and delivery. There are no hidden costs.

The average number of words on a page for our templates is 320, so to estimate the page length of your book just divide the number of words of your novel by 320 and then round up to the nearest even number. (This will provide an estimate of your page length. We will confirm your expected page length and costs before proceeding.) The size of your book will be 129 mm x 198 mm, which is a standard paperback novel size.

The Great Australian Novel Package does not include editing or proofreading. If you are printing your novel with the intention of selling it, we highly recommend you have it edited and proofread to ensure it is of a saleable standard. You can use our editorial services, or you can have it edited and proofread before bringing it to us. You can then take advantage of this package for your cover, layout and printing.

The above costs include delivery to anywhere in Australia. All prices include GST. A $250 deposit is required with your submission, and the balance must be paid in full after approval of final proofs. Your books will be printed once the balance has been paid. If you wish to have your book printed using different specifications, contact us and we will provide a quote.

The Ebook Package

Our new Ebook Package is fantastic if you don't want to pay for printing but would still like to have your book professionally laid out. Once you have your ebook file, you can email it around to family and friends. You can give it to as many people as you like with no extra costs.
